Q Tee came in to do the rap on ' Filthy' and she was 14 or 15 at the time, ande came chaperoned by six or seven of her family - a carload of people who were all her brothers. (Ian Catt 2009)

We liked the idea of doing non-album tracks as singles. She'd done a song called 'Africa', at the time it was quite unusual to hear English or London accents in rap. If you pick the right person for a collaboration things just happen, they fall into place really easily. (Pete Wiggs 2009)

It was called 'Filthy' because when they first played the sample that was my reaction - you can't release this, its just going to sound filthy - really scratched up old vinyl (Ian Catt 2009)

Filthy was originally the working title because of the scratchiness of the samples. We got in touch with Q-Tee after we heard her single Afrika and thought her voice was properly unique, husky and sweet. She really should have become a star, especially when you think of other British rappers from the time - she was the best. Her name was Tatiana Mais, and she was still at school when we recorded Filthy. We went to her house in Kidbrooke to meet her mum who wanted to check me and Pete were kosher. (Bob Stanley 2016)

Vocals are by British MC, Q-Tee, who was only 15 when the track was recorded. She later appeared on Saint Etienne's second album So Tough on the song Calico. She had her own solo UK Top 40 hit with Gimme That Body in 1996. (Adchelle)
