Notes
Annie was to open but cancelled when equipment didn't arrive. Mary Hampton subbed in.

"Pissing down in London, beautiful summer afternoon by the time we reached the Sussex coast. One major hitch - Annie's gear got sent to the wrong airport so she couldn't play. Happily for us, we know local folk heroine Mary Hampton and when we called she dropped everything and ran full pelt to Concorde 2. If you like Sandy Denny and Anne Briggs you've got to hear Mary sing, the purest most beautiful voice you could wish for.By a crazy coincidence she sang Silver Dagger, the Appalachian folk tune we adapted into Like A Motorway! Don't know how many people noticed. The kids were out to par-tay so it was a bit noisy when Mary took the stage, but there was much whooping and applause by the end. We were a little shaky, bits of vocal/keyboard/guitar refusing to come out to play on a few songs. But I think was pretty good for a first night. Nice to get a good reaction on Teenage Winter and Stars Above Us (much dancing). Will re-jig the set a bit tonight (Jun 16)." Bob Stanley
